  AQUA CULTURE SWIM

SWIM FITNESS & AQUA CULTURE SWIM

Swim fitness is of paramount importance in Water Polo due to the unique demands and nature of the sport. Water Polo is a physically demanding team sport that requires a combination of swimming ability, strength, endurance, and tactical awareness.

In this month's edition of Making Waves we hear from the amazing Coaches at Aqua Culture Swim, the fabulous NEW purpose built Swim Centre in Brookvale about the importance of "Swim Fitness" to help your Water Polo game...

"It’s no secret that excelling in Water Polo is directly linked to your swimming proficiency. A tried and tested way to improve your Water Polo game is to improve your aerobic capacity in the pool. This is best achieved through attending regular swim training sessions.

At Aqua Culture Swim we can help you elevate your Water Polo game by refining your swimming technique, improving your efficiency in the water and building your speed and endurance through swimming training.

Aqua Culture Swim is a brand-new, purpose-built swimming facility located at Warringah Mall. We offer learn to swim, development and squad swimming for all ages and abilities.

At Aqua Culture Swim, our vision is to deliver specialised programs tailored to the needs of the individual, incorporating swimming fundamentals with innovative teaching. We understand that swim training for water polo needs to include interval training and specific drills to develop speed, power, leg strength and aerobic capacity.

We’d love to have a chat to you about your goals in the pool. For more information,  please email us hello@aquacultureswim.com.au or go to our website www.aquacultureswim.com.au. You can also follow us on instagram https://www.instagram.com/aquaculture_swim/

  Managers Role

MANAGERS ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A Water Polo Team Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning and success of a Water Polo team. While the players and coaches are focused on training, tactics, and performance in the pool, the Team Manager handles a wide range of administrative, logistical, and organisational tasks that are essential for the team's overall effectiveness and performance.

Here are just a few key reasons highlighting the importance of a Water Polo Team Manager:

  1. Logistical Support: Team Managers take care of various logistical aspects, such as ensuring all players/families know where their training and games are each week. They ensure that the team arrives at events on time and that all necessary equipment and gear are ready and available.

  2. Communication: Managers act as a bridge of communication between Coaches, Players, Parents/Carers and Committee members. They relay important information about schedules, changes, and requirements, helping to maintain clear and effective communication within the team.

  3. Coaching Support: While coaches primarily focus on training and tactics, managers can assist in coordinating practice schedules and providing additional support in the lead up to games, training sessions or tournaments.

  4. Administrative Tasks: Managers handle administrative tasks like organising rosters for table duties Example Metro Team Doc keeping track of players availabilities and entering weekly scorecards into WPNSW online system (Team Managers Guide) .

A well-organised and efficient manager contributes significantly to the team's success by ensuring that all off-field aspects are well taken care of, allowing players and coaches to concentrate on their roles in the pool.

Once all teams have been selected, Coaches will be in contact requesting Manager Nominations. All Managers and Coaching staff MUST have a current Working With Children Check.

TABLE DUTY WORKSHOP - SCORECARD & CLOCK

Does this picture of the Water Polo Scoring/Shot Clock scare the living day lights out of you?? YES!! You are NOT alone... Don't worry we have you covered.

Throughout the Water Polo Season ALL Parents/Carers are asked by their teams Managers to help with "Table Duty" each week at their child/ren's games. Table Duty consists of filling out the Scorecard (goals, fouls, exclusions) and working the Clock during the game. This can seem a very daunting task to most people, but once you know the basics and understand the rules/scorecard you'll be a pro in no time at all.

At SNB we are lucky enough to have so many talented and dedicated members in our club that are always willing to help, so in the lead up to the Summer Season we will be running a "Table Duty Workshop" to help everyone feel comfortable when asked to help with their teams table duties.

Table Duty Workshop:

Date: TBC

Time: 7:30pm-8:45pm

Venue: TBC
